Responsible for managing the local accounting functions accurately and timely in compliance with laws/controls within the assigned countries of responsibility
The role is a part of the Japan Accounting team within International Accounting group.
What you'll do
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Responsible for managing several functional accounting areas within the local accounting office.
Prepare tax filings/payments as required by local authorities for your countries of responsibility
Responsible for ensuring integrity of accounting information and compliance with local laws, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and company controls
Responsible for the preparation of the month-end account reconciliations, journal entries and support schedules
Support the employee payrolls and HR benefits processing for country
Review/approve local disbursements in accordance with the company’s authority policy
Work with internal/external auditors to provide requested support
Provide local support to the company resolving issues that arise
Represent your country in cross-departmental work groups and ad-hoc assignments
Ensure timely and accurate completion of all duties assigned to you and your team
Work multiple projects simultaneously, complying with required deadlines and adjusting priorities
General

All you'll need for success
Person Specification
Essential
University degree with a focus in Accounting or equivalent education/training
At least 3 years supervisory/management experience
At least 3 years of related accounting experience
Proven experience of International business practices, tax and labor laws
Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and International Financial Reporting Standards
Demonstrated excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
Ability to work with mainframe based tools; proficient with PC and Microsoft Office software (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint)
Adaptable to change
Ability to motivate employees in working as a team
Self-motivated and have a positive hands-on approach
Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment, with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills
Fluent in verbal and written English and additional local languages, if applicable
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels within the organization
Ability to deal with confidential subject matters
Able and willing to work flexibly with a willingness to undertake Domestic and International travel as required
Desirable
MBA, CPA, or equivalent education/certification
Demonstrated knowledge of airline accounting practices
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP and Hyperion
Language/Communication Skills
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with all levels within the organization
