  • ​This job is a member of the People Business Partner Team within the People Division.

  • ​Responsible for contributing to American Airlines’ success through consulting, identifying and delivering People (Human Resource) services and solutions that will result in enhanced business capability, and performance/ people engagement.

What you'll do

  • Builds and leverages relationships at all levels in the organization, informing and assisting others while being viewed as a valued, trusted, and credible business partner

  • Acts as a trusted advisor to client leaders, assisting them to carry out their business and functional plans

  • Works with business leaders to effectively lead and execute all annual people initiatives for the organization

  • Provides strategic guidance to clients to implement solutions for employee relations issues trends, patterns

  • Consults with business and Team Member Experience group surrounding disciplinary and termination employment processes

  • Implements success measures to coach leaders to be proactive in employee relations and avoid reactionary situations

  • Identifies and capitalizes on opportunities to drive and/or lead change

  • Foster a culture that is diverse and inclusive, in line with the strategic goals of the organization, team building, organizational development, engagement and accountability

  • Facilitates effective change management initiatives

  • Develops and conducts team development/team building strategies both proactively and, when necessary, to improve team performance

  • Proactively works to support our leaders with talent initiatives, leadership development programs and improving team member performance engagement (succession planning, 9 box, targeted development plans, etc.)

  • Presents options to leaders on organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, employee development, etc.

  • Identifies and delivers training, both compliance and leadership, to client work group(s) (e.g., Diversity, harassment, and discrimination)

  • Identifies business environment needs based on changing regulations, government rules, policies, and procedures and implement solutions

  • Develops and mentors employees across business units and within People Department

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Management or related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 5 years of human resources experience

  • 3 years in handling employee relations

  • 2 years staff supervisory/management experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • ​Familiar with state and federal employment laws including but not limited to; FMLA, ADA, FLSA, NLRB, Title VII, etc.

  • Experienced in providing guidance and counsel to executive leaders

  • PHR/SPHR certification

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • ​Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.

  • Excellent negotiation, interpersonal skills, organizational, and analytical capabilities

  • Strong initiative and solid judgment abilities/skills

  • Skills in problem-solving and decision-making

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations in a professional and dignified manner

  • Ability to work independently and to be highly self-motivated

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and produce results
